Smeraldos are, by nature, rare and difficult flowers to cultivate. Since their discovery in Italy, there has been a movement to make an academy by international and Italian horticulturalists and florists.  

The result is The Smeraldo Academy, situated in San Francisco, USA. There aren’t many members, but people who love and value smeraldos gather and conduct various research, as well as strictly screening sales of the smeraldo flowers outside of Italy.
